Nelmin Nos ( Russian Не́льмин Нос ) is a settlement in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia with 916 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

Nelmin Nos is located in the branched delta of the Pechora , about 38 km north of Narjan-Mar , the capital of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The place is located on the left bank of the Pechora arm of the river Tundrowy Schar , which drains from Lake Golodnaja Guba , located three kilometers to the south, into the Pechora lake, 30 km to the north .

As to the administrative division, Nelmin Nos belongs to the Sapoljarny rajon . It is also the administrative seat and the only permanently inhabited place of the Malosemelski selsowet municipality , which is named after the Malosemelskaya tundra west of Nelmin Nos .

history

The settlement was founded in 1937 as the basis for the first Nenzener reindeer - kolkhoz ( Первого Ненецкого оленеводческого колхоза; ПНОК ).

In 1995 the Malosemelski selsowet was reorganized as the municipality of the same name. Since 2005, Nelmin Nos has been part of the Sapoljarny rajon as the center of Malosemelski selsowet .

Infrastructure

The place has a kindergarten, a general education school, an ambulance, a bakery and various shops. There is also an ethno-cultural center that houses a library, a local museum, a traditional music ensemble and an art cabinet.

Economy and Transport

The population is mainly active in reindeer herding.

In the ice-free summer months, passengers and freight are mainly transported by ship on the Nelmin Nos - Narjan-Mar route . In the winter months, the settlement can only be reached by snowmobiles and amphibious vehicles .
