Niederau is a Kirchdorf , a fraction (location) and a Katastralgemeinde the community Wildschönau in district Kufstein in Tirol . Part of the closed settlement area ("Grafenweg") lies in the area of the municipality of Hopfgarten im Brixental and thus in the Kitzbühel district .
The village with 1067 inhabitants (January 1, 2020) is located in the cadastral municipality of the same name with 1,089.64 hectares.

Niederau is located at an altitude of 826 m above sea level. A. in the Kitzbühel Alps , about five kilometers southeast of Wörgl and 25 km west of Kitzbühel.

Economy and Infrastructure
The most important branch of the economy is tourism, mainly during the winter season. There is also dairy and slaughterhouses, mostly as a sideline.

The village is connected to the city of Wörgl via the L3 state road , which runs through the village and continues to Oberau . The second street is the L41 and leads to Hopfgarten . The two streets cross in the center of Niederau. The Postbus runs on the Wörgl - Niederau - Oberau - Mühltal - Auffach route.
The closest train station is Wörgl Central Station .

Around 2100 guest beds in each category are available in hotels, guest houses, guest houses and farms as well as private accommodation.
The Markbachjoch (also Mar ch bachjoch) is the local mountain of the Niederauer. An 8-seater gondola and a 4-seater chairlift lead up. The ski area is part of the "Ski Jewel Alpbachtal Wildschönau". Austria's first chairlift, opened in 1947, led from Niederau to the Markbachjoch.
In winter Niederau is connected to the Schatzberg in Auffach via a ski bus connection.
In addition to the fourteen ski slopes (from blue to black), the eleven lifts (five practice lifts in the valley, two practice lifts on the mountain, two advanced lifts, a gondola lift, a chair lift), there are also numerous cross-country ski trails and one that opened in winter 2014 Toboggan run.
The town is also a popular destination for paragliders (paragliding). With the local flight school directly in town, opportunities for newcomers as well as advanced users are offered.
