The 54th Nordic World Ski Championships were awarded at the 51st FIS Congress from May 13th to 19th, 2018 in Costa Navarino , Greece . The applicants were Trondheim in Norway and Planica in Slovenia . Trondheim had previously applied unsuccessfully for the World Championships in 2021, Planica for 2017, 2019 and 2021.

The detailed application concept had to be submitted by September 1, 2017.

On May 17, 2018, Planica was awarded the contract for the world championships for the fourth time. The Slovenian city received nine votes against Trondheim with just six votes.
