The Ohebach is a 21.6 km long, southwest and orographically left tributary of the Efze in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse ( Germany ).
course
The Ohebach rises in the northern part of the Knüllgebirge near the eastern border of the municipality of Frielendorf . Its source lies between Steindorf (zu Homberg) in the northeast, Hergetsfeld (zu Knüllwald) in the southeast, Großropperhausen (zu Frielendorf) in the southwest and Leuderode (zu Frielendorf) in the northwest. It is located southwest of the Ochsenkopf ( 483 m above sea level ), a northern branch of the Silberberg ( 524.2 m ), which is one of the Hilpertshain (approx. 536 m ). In agricultural areas it is located at an altitude of 483 m .
Initially, the Ohebach flows in the Frielendorfer area in a south-westerly direction past the mountains and mountain spurs Schlossersberg , Beisiegel and Sterkelsberg on the right and the Hilpertshain and Bilsteinkopf mountains on the left to Großropperhausen . After flowing through the village, it runs winding and mostly north-west past the Belzberg , Ringsberg and Lerchenberg and through the Ohetal nature reserve near Großropperhausen (NSG no. 318909), which was designated in 1998 and is 65 hectares in size. Afterwards, in a predominantly north-westerly direction, it passes the hamlet of Schachtenbach , located on the Spieskappel mountain , where the Schachtenbach joins on the right, and shortly afterwards, after the Warmbach joins the hamlet of Ebersdorf ; both belong to Frielendorf.
The Ohebach then flows through the village of Spieskappel (to Frielendorf) in a northerly direction and then through the Frielendorfer core town, where the Grom Bach coming from the south-west joins the northern edge of the village . Then it runs between the villages of Welcherod and Allendorf, located off the creek, northeast to and through Verna ; they all belong to Frielendorf.
Then the Ohebach flows into the municipality of Homberg , where it passes the village of Lützelwig after the Niederbach flows into it on the right . Then the Rinnebach joins, also on the right side, after which the brook runs northwards through the Homberg village of Caßdorf .
After flowing through Caßdorf , the Ohebach flows into the Schwalm tributary Efze, which comes from the southeast, near the Untersten Mühle at around 187 m above sea level, after overcoming a 288 m difference in altitude .
