Oleh Anatolijowytsch Husjew ( Ukrainian Олег Анатолійович Гусєв ; born April 25, 1983 in Stepanivka , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian football player .

Career

Husjev's career as a professional footballer began in 2002 at Arsenal Kiev . A year later he moved to Dynamo Kiev . He was one of Kiev's best players in the 2007-08 season, scoring two goals in 20 games. At the end of that season he suffered a protracted knee injury that left him unable to play for almost a year. It was only in March 2009 that he was able to play for Kiev again.

Husjew has played for the Ukrainian national team since 2003 and was appointed by Ukrainian national coach Oleh Blochin to the 23-man squad for the 2006 World Cup , where he played in each of the five games.

On March 30, 2014, in the game between Dynamo Kiev and Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk , Husyev clashed with the opposing team's goalkeeper Denys Boyko after a free kick . Hussiev swallowed his tongue, threatening to suffocate. Dnipro midfielder Jaba Kankawa responded immediately, pulling Husiev's tongue out of his throat, likely saving his life.
