Oliver Steller (born August 27, 1967 in Bonn ) is a German reciter and musician . He combines music and literature .

Live and act

Oliver Steller grew up and went to school in the Rhineland. In addition to graduating from high school at the Otto Kühne School in Bonn, he also graduated from high school in Los Angeles . He studied guitar , composition and singing at Berklee College of Music in Boston . As a freelance musician, Oliver Steller worked for one year in Boston and three years in Chicago . During this time, in addition to live performances, recordings with Tom Coster ( Santana ), Charmaine Neville, Robert Irving III ( Miles Davis ) and Louisiana Red were made . In Boston, Oliver Steller had a funk trio with Abe Laboriel junior (Paul McCartney, Sting, Eric Clapton) and Matt Garrison (Herbie Hancock, Paul Simon).

After his stay in the USA he returned to Germany and met Lutz Görner . The duo Görner / Steller worked together for several years and worked on works by Kurt Tucholsky , Else Lasker-Schüler , Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Bertolt Brecht as well as a children's program. In 1994 Steller began as a reciter under the direction of Lutz Görner. Since then he has brought numerous programs to the stage.

In 2000 Oliver Steller received the German Record Critics' Prize for his children's programs. In the following year he was referred to in the FAZ as the “voice of German poetry”. Dietmar Fuhr on double bass and Bernd Winterschladen ( saxophone ) have been accompanying Oliver Steller on his tours through Germany since 2005 . In 2011 he toured with the singing standing drummer Thomas Diemer, who accompanied him through Germany on his 4th children's program. Steller has been giving coaching in free lectures since 2011. In 2014 Steller played part of the soundtrack for the film Beltracchi - The Art of Forgery , which was awarded the German Film Prize. The music producer duo Dürbeck & Dohmen , who composed the music for the film, engaged Oliver Steller for the guitar solos based on Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix .

For the 20th stage anniversary as a reciter in 2015, Steller presented the best of his programs and three centuries of German poetry, accompanied by keyboardist Friso Lücht , percussionist Holger Mertin , saxophonist Bernd Winterschladen and Dietmar Fuhr on double bass.

Oliver Steller received the German Record Award in April 2015 for his fifth children's program. In May 2015, Steller became the patron of " Adventure Learning ".

Oliver Steller has been married since 1994 and has two children.
