Six cycling competitions were held at the IV Olympic Games in London in 1908 . All races took place on the 660 yards (603.50 m) circular cement track in the White City Stadium . Road races were not advertised as they were prohibited under British Road Traffic Act.

The rules of the National Cyclists' Union of England and Wales were applied, not those of the UCI . The 1000-meter race was not counted because the time limit of 105 seconds was exceeded. In all races (with the exception of the team pursuit) only the time of the first placed was stopped.

All competitions were reserved for men.

1980 yards team pursuit

Date: July 17th

Originally seven teams were registered, but at the start of the first round only five teams with four drivers each showed up. Great Britain and Canada progressed without a fight, as the teams of Belgium and the USA decided not to start. The Dutch benefited from a bye; only the Germans had to compete and prevailed against France.

In the semi-finals, Great Britain beat Canada and Germany beat the Netherlands. In the final, the British won by a clear margin. The bronze medal went to the Canadians, as they were the quicker losing team in the semifinals.
