The Netherlands participated in the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo with a delegation of eight athletes, six men and two women. The speed skater Kees Broekman was chosen as the flag bearer of the Dutch team for the opening ceremony. Medals could not be won.
