Ostheim (Liebenau) is a district of the small town Liebenau in the north Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical location

The place is a good one kilometer southeast of the right bank of the Diemel . The core town of Liebenau is three kilometers southwest, Hofgeismar four km east-southeast, Borgentreich nine km northwest and Trendelburg a good ten km northeast. Warburg is twelve km to the west-southwest and the north Hessian city of Kassel is 24 km to the southeast.

history

More than 4000 years old graves and archaeological finds indicate a settlement of the area since at least the end of the Neolithic period at the transition to the Bronze Age .

The place was first mentioned in a document of the Helmarshausen Abbey at the beginning of the 12th century as villa Asthem . At that time he belongs to the county of Dassel . In 1220, at the wedding of Adelheid, daughter of Count Ludolf II von Dassel, it was transferred to Berthold von Schöneberg .

Even today, Ostheim is still heavily influenced by agriculture and has no industry, only agricultural and handicraft businesses and a car dealership.
