Outcast ( English outsider ) is an American horror series based on the comic of the same name by Robert Kirkman . In March 2016, the series was renewed for a second season, which aired between April 3 and June 5, 2017 on Fox UK. The German-language first broadcast ran again from April 10 to June 12, 2017 on FOX .

Kyle Barnes
Kyle has recognized since childhood that people in his family are possessed by demons. As an adult, he returns to his hometown looking for answers. Kyle discovers that he has an influence on the demons and tries to drive them out of the possessed.
Reverend John Anderson
The priest Anderson from West Virginia believes that he is one of the good fighters on God's side against the evil in the world. Together with Kyle, he tries to cast out demons from the possessed. He is also an alcoholic and a gambling addict.
Megan Holter
Megan is Kyle's sister. When he returns to his hometown, she tries to support him.
Mark Holter
Mark is a cop and married to Megan. He doesn't like his brother-in-law, Kyle, nor does he believe in demons, so he looks for logical explanations for strange incidents.
Police Chief Byron Giles
Giles is the police chief of Rome and also the poker pal of Anderson. He himself doubts the existence of demons, but has already seen some himself, which is why he more often believes the words of the priest.
Sarah Barnes
Sarah is the mother of Kyle and was demon possessed, which is why she made Kyle part of his childhood hell. As a mentally ill , she is cared for in a psychiatric care facility. Due to the lack of conditions in the care facility, Sarah is looked after by her son for a short time in their own house, until Reverend Anderson finds out about it and brings her back. Over time, Sarah not only receives visits from Sidney several times, but also from her granddaughter Amber.
Joshua Austin
Joshua, an eight-year-old boy, is apparently demon-possessed. He has a mysterious connection with Kyle, who can cast out the demon.

In 2013, before the comic series was released in 2014, Cinemax announced that it would be adapting the comic as a television series together with Fox International Channels . Ten episodes were initially announced, with Adam Wingard supposed to direct the pilot. For the music is Atticus Ross in charge, who has worked with the series Fear the Walking Dead , composed the theme music, which is also based on an idea by Robert Kirkman.
Production began on August 10, 2015 in South Carolina . Adam Wingard and David Alpert are executive producers .
At the South by Southwest Festival in Austin , Texas, Cinemax announced in March 2016 that it had ordered a second season of the series.

Germany
The German pay-TV broadcaster FOX announced in July 2015 that it would also show the series on German television within 24 hours of the US premiere from 2016. The first broadcast of the first season ran from June 6 to August 15, 2016. On May 20, 2016, the pay-TV broadcaster will broadcast the first episode free of charge on Facebook in the original English language, and it will also be on Sky Go and Sky On Demand at the same time available.
ZDFneo began broadcasting the first season on January 31, 2017.
