history

The village was founded around 1360 during the colonization of the Bohemian Forest by the Goldenkron monastery and was first mentioned in 1393 as Schonaw .

Together with the other monastery estates, Schönau also became the property of Prince Schwarzenberg in 1785 as a result of the abolition of the Goldenkron monastery and became part of the allodial rule of Krumlov . Between 1788 and 1791 a local church of the Salnau parish was built in Schönau . After the consecration, the village also received its own parish school; Initially, teaching took place as a traveling school, alternately in the farmers' rooms; A hair room served as the teacher's apartment . In 1795, the Religious Fund approved 329 guilders for the construction of a school building, and the Krumlov authorities provided building materials worth 422 guilders. After its completion, the school was declared a country pattern school for the area.

In 1840 Schönau consisted of 26 houses with 265 German-speaking residents. Under the patronage of the religious fund, the local church of St. Anna and the school. On the other side lay the single layers Grasfurth ( Brod , two houses on the right bank of the Vltava), Pechofen ( Smolná Pec , two houses with tar ovens, on the right of the Vltava), Pendelberg ( U Gabriela , a Hegerhaus) and Jodlhäuser ( Jodlovy Chalupy , two houses on the Steinschichtwald) ). Schönau was the pastor of Humwald ( Chlum ), Jodlhäuser, Neuhäuser ( Nové Chalupy ), Pechofen and Grasfurth. In 1845 the schoolhouse was replaced by a new building. Until the middle of the 19th century, Schönau remained subject to the allodial rule of Krumlov.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Schoenau / Senava 1849 a district of the municipality Hintring in the judicial district Oberplan ; the strata of Grasfurth and Pechofen to the right of the Vltava were added to the community of Neuofen . In 1857 the Schönau church was elevated to a parish church. In 1860 110 children from Schönau and the parish towns were taught in the one-class village school. From 1868 the village belonged to the Krumlov district . In 1882 the school building was expanded to accommodate two-class classes, and from 1890 classes were held in three classes.

With the approval for a school building in the Humwald community, a school dispute broke out between Schönau and Humwald in 1933, which led to the Brno Higher Regional Court, where Schönau failed in the last instance with a legal challenge. The new three-class school in Humwald was inaugurated on September 12, 1935 and from then on attended by the children from Humwald and Neuhäuser. At their own request, the yodelling houses continued to attend school in Schönau. Since the number of children from Schönau, Jodlhäuser, Grasfurth and Pechofen was too small for a three-class lesson, from 1936 there were only two classes in Schönau. In the mid-1930s a bunker line of the Czechoslovak Wall was built near Schönau along the Vltava . In October 1938, as a result of the Munich Agreement , the village was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Prachatitz district . After the end of the Second World War , Šenava came back to Czechoslovakia and was again assigned to the Okres Český Krumlov. The German Bohemian population was expelled due to the Beneš decrees until 1946 and the place was only repopulated with Czechs to a small extent. In the course of the territorial reform of 1948, the community Hintring was assigned to the Okres Prachatice . In 1949 Hintring was renamed in Záhvozdí and Šenava in Pěkná . The following year the municipality of Záhvozdí was dissolved; Pěkná was incorporated into Bělá. From 1961 Pěkná belonged as a district to Želnava and since July 1, 1980 to Nová Pec . A kindergarten was set up in the school in 1964.

In 1991 Pěkná had 66 inhabitants. In 2001 the place consisted of 27 houses in which 61 people lived. Pěkná consists of 30 houses in total.

The character of the village square was completely lost in the second half of the 20th century due to the demolition of uninhabited and dilapidated houses as well as new buildings. The pilgrimage chapel of the Lady on Rothübl ( Kaple na Červeném vršku u Pěkné ), located northwest of Pěkná on the road to Chlum, was demolished during this time.
