Parliamentary election in Albania 2009

On June 28, 2009 were parliamentary elections in Albania instead. It was the sixth elections for Kuvendi i Shqipërisë , the Albanian parliament , since the fall of the communist regime in 1990/91. Sali Berisha from the Partia Demokratike (PD) emerged from the election as the winner.

The "Association for Change" (Bashkimi për Ndryshim) under the leadership of the Partia Socialiste e Shqipërisë had the following five coalition members:

"Alliance Pole of Freedom"

The "Alliance Poli i Lirisë" (Aleanca Poli i Lirisë) under the leadership of the Partia Demokristiane e Shqipërisë had the following six coalition members:

The "Socialist Alliance for Integration" (Aleanca Socialiste për Integrim) under the leadership of the Lëvizja Socialiste për Integrim had a total of six coalition members:

  4. Partia Toleranca e Re e Shqipërisë

In the parliamentary elections, Partia Ligj dhe Drejtësi (PLIDR) (under Spartak Ngjela ) and Abdullah Adil Omuri will run alone and will not be represented in any coalition.

The twelve qarks also form the constituencies in parliamentary elections. The Kuvendi determined the distribution of the 140 parliamentary seats among the twelve constituencies as follows:

Results

A total of almost 1.5 million Albanians were eligible to vote in this election. The turnout was 51.5%.

The Alliance for Change received 712,745 votes and thus 47.7% of the votes cast. She was the winner of the election and received 70 seats in the Albanian parliament. The Association for Change made it to 688,748 votes, which corresponds to a share of 45.3% and brought you 66 seats in parliament, the Socialist Alliance for Integration made it to 84,407 votes, which corresponds to a share of 5.6% and you four Brought seats in parliament and the Free Poles Alliance achieved 27,655 votes, which corresponds to a share of 1.9% and did not bring any seats in parliament. Sali Berisha was re-elected as Prime Minister of Albania.
