Paul Jaeckel (born July 22, 1998 in Eisenhüttenstadt ) is a German soccer player . The central defender is under contract with SpVgg Greuther Fürth and is a young German national player.

Career

Born in Brandenburg, Jaeckel began playing football at Eisenhüttenstadt's FC Stahl when he was five . As a teenager he switched to the youth department at Energie Cottbus . He started working for VfL Wolfsburg when he was 16 . There he was finally able to move up to the second team via the U17 and U19 in August 2017 . The central defender made his debut on August 5, 2017 in the game against SSV Jeddeloh in Regionalliga Nord .

Due to the injury-related loss of several players, coach Bruno Labbadia appointed him to the professional squad on April 7, 2018. In the 2-0 away win against SC Freiburg , Jaeckel was on the field for the entire season and made his debut in the Bundesliga . At the end of the 2017/18 Bundesliga season , he held the class with VfL in the relegation relegation against Holstein Kiel .

On August 30, 2018, Jaeckel moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for SpVgg Greuther Fürth , where he signed a contract with a term until June 30, 2021. In Fürth, the central defender was initially used for both the first and the second team, in the summer of 2019 he was then firmly integrated into the second division squad and was able to earn a regular place at the end of the first half of the season.

National team

Jaeckel has played eight times for junior national teams of the DFB .

Country selection

On the occasion of the amateur country cup , Jaeckel played four times as a Wolfsburg player in October 2015 for the U18 team of Lower Saxony .
