Sascha Burchert (born October 30, 1989 in East Berlin ) is a German football goalkeeper . He is currently under contract with SpVgg Greuther Fürth and is a former DFB junior national player.
career
In the club
Burchert started playing football at Wartenberger SV when he was five. Before joining the Hertha BSC youth team in 2002 , he played with his brother Nico for Wartenberger SV. At Hertha he was appointed to the professional squad in 2008, but initially only played in the second team in the Regionalliga Nord . He made his professional debut on September 17, 2009, when he replaced the injured Jaroslav Drobný in the 21st minute on the first match day of the group stage of the 2009/10 UEFA Europa League in the 1-1 home game against FK Ventspils . For the same reason, he was in goal for the first time in the Bundesliga three days later in the 4-0 home defeat against SC Freiburg .
After another defeat, the DFB Cup in the 2nd main round against TSV 1860 Munich , Timo Ochs, a goalkeeper without a club, was hired after the end of the actual transfer phase , who replaced Burchert in the following league game. Nevertheless, Burchert remained Drobnýs first substitute in the Europa League , as Ochs was not eligible to play for this competition. However, Ochs was also injured on October 4, 2009 in the game against Hamburger SV , so that Burchert played again in the Bundesliga. He cleared balls with his head twice in a row outside the penalty area , but each landed on the opponent and led to two goals.
Then he was described by the Bild newspaper as a "goalkeeping idiot", while Hertha's goalkeeping coach Christian Fiedler , the regular goalkeeper Drobný and the goalkeeper of HSV, Frank Rost , absolved him of guilt. After Drobný's return, the Berliner commuted between playing on the Bundesliga bench and playing in the reserve team. In December 2012, his contract was extended to 2016. In the 2010/11 season Sascha Burchert came to his first second division appearances because Hertha's regular goalkeepers Maikel Aerts and Marco Sejna were suspended or injured. From 2012 he was Hertha's first reserve goalkeeper behind Thomas Kraft . By the end of his contract, the keeper had played 15 competitive games for the club's first and 67 for the second men's team.
For the 2016/17 season , Burchert moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth . The also newly signed Hungarian Balázs Megyeri was able to work out a regular place, however, Burchert came to two second division games as well as three cup games and ten games for the regional league team , with which he was able to keep the class via relegation. After a shoulder injury to the new team captain Megyeri, Burchert moved between the posts as a representative in the summer of 2017 and, thanks to his good performance, completed the remaining league games even after his competitor had recovered. After the Hungarian was changed, the Berliner remained the first choice in goal and only missed one mandatory game due to illness; in addition, he represented Marco Caligiuri until the second half of the season as team captain. At the beginning of May 2020, the goalkeeper's contract was extended to June 2022.
In the national team
Burchert went through all German junior national teams from the U16 to the U20 . However , he missed the U19 European Championship in 2008 , where Germany won the title, due to a tonsillitis .
