Club career

Via Deggendorf to Fürth

Maximilian Bauer was born on 9 February 2000, grew up in Lower Bavaria Windorf and began his club career as a football player around the year 2005 in the SpVgg Grün-Weiss Deggendorf in around 35 kilometers north-westerly Deggendorf . At the club, which was only formed in the spring of 2003 from a merger of SpVgg Deggendorf with SV Grün-Weiß Deggendorf , Bauer went through all junior game classes and was most recently active in the C-youth in the 2013/14 season . For this he completed 17 championship games this season in the U-15 Bayern League, in which the C-youth was represented since the 2005/06 season. Subsequently, Bauer moved to the then German second division club SpVgg Greuther Fürth and appeared in the first season after the commitment for its U-15 team in the C-Junior Regional League South . With this he took part in the Matthias Pape memorial tournament this season .

In the 2015/16 season he was promoted to the B-youth of SpVgg Greuther Fürth and completed 14 league games for them. During this season he scored three goals in the south / south-west relay of the B-Junior Bundesliga . In the final standings, the Fürth team took twelfth place with 25 points, just behind SC Freiburg with 26 points. Bauer had to relegate the team to the Bayern League. After a tenth place in the final ranking of the 2016/17 season , Bauer spent the entire 2017/18 season with the youth team. Under the new coach Josef Steinberger (* 1972) he was considered a regular player, and by the end of the season he had made 20 league appearances and three goals. In addition, there were four appearances and one goal at the Bavarian A-Juniors indoor championship in January 2018.

First appearances in men's football

In the summer of 2018 he made his breakthrough in men's football and was accepted into the first team of the Fürth team with play in the 2nd Bundesliga and in the second team, the U-23, with play in the fourth-class Bavarian regional league . Bauer made his debut in men's football on July 13, 2018, when he stood as a central defender for the full 90 minutes in the second team's 5-1 victory over FC Pipinsried . After another 90-minute outing on the fifth match day against VfR Garching , Bauer made his professional football debut a week later. In the 1-1 away draw against FC Ingolstadt 04 on the second match day, Bauer was substituted on by coach Damir Burić in the 94th minute for David Atanga . Ten days later he played the first round match of the 2018/19 DFB Cup between SpVgg Greuther Fürth against Borussia Dortmund and was eliminated from this competition early after a 2-1 win in extra time.

National team career

On April 18, 2018, Bauer was first used for a junior national team of the German Football Association . In the 2-1 victory of the German U18 juniors over their colleagues from Austria , he came on the pitch in the 83rd minute of play for Yann Aurel Bisseck .
