Paul LeBlanc

Paul LeBlanc (* 1946 in Dieppe , New Brunswick ; † October 2, 2019 in Dieppe , New Brunswick) was a Canadian hairstylist and makeup artist who won an Oscar for best make-up , a British Academy Film Award for best mask , a Genie Award for Special Merit and Lifetime Achievement Award from the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild.

Life

Paul LeBlanc grew up on Canada's east coast in the province of New Brunswick. LeBlanc began his career as a make-up artist in the Hollywood film industry in 1979 with the film The Party is over… The sequel to American Graffiti and has worked on around seventy films.

At the Oscar ceremony in 1985 , he won with Dick Smith the Oscar for best makeup for Amadeus (1984) by Milos Forman with F. Murray Abraham , Tom Hulce and Elizabeth Berridge in the lead roles . In addition, both won the BAFTA Film Award for the best mask and in 1985 he also won the Genie Award for special merits.

In 2000 he was nominated by the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild for Best Contemporary Hairstyling in a Motion Picture, for Everywhere But Not Here (1999) by Wayne Wang with Susan Sarandon , Natalie Portman and Hart Bochner in the Leading roles.

For by the TV channel Syfy produced science fiction - miniseries Children of Dune (2003) by director Greg Yaitanes with Alec Newman , James McAvoy and Jessica Brooks , he was in 2003 with Tamara Koubová for an Emmy nomination for outstanding hairstyling in a miniseries. He was also honored by the Hollywood Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist Guild in 2003 with the Lifetime Achievement Award .

In 2004 he and Jean Ann Black received a BAFTA Film Award nomination for Best Mask for Big Fish (2003) by Tim Burton with Ewan McGregor , Albert Finney and Alison Lohman . He and Jean Ann Black were also nominated for the Phoenix Film Critics Society Award (PFCS Award) for best make-up.
