Perschling is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Perschling in the St. Pölten district in Lower Austria .
The village is located on Wiener Straße B 1. The former post house is historically interesting, although it is in need of renovation. The local chapel is over 1000 years old. The new Westbahn from Vienna to St. Pölten with the Perschling tunnel chain runs within sight of the town .
history
Formerly a post and horse changing station for postal traffic. Oldest place on the Perschling.
In the second half of the 20th century, the structure of employment changed dramatically: Were there still numerous (small) farms and trades around 1950 (tailors, shoemakers, bakers, grocery stores, blacksmiths, wagons, bag makers, electricians, mechanics, butchers, restaurateurs, etc. ), most of these farms disappeared by 2000. Due to the expansion of school bus routes, the children were able to attend secondary schools in St. Pölten or Krems more and more easily. After 2000, most of them are forced to take up work abroad. In 2005 the traditional post office in Perschling was closed.
In February 2015, the name of the municipality was adapted to the fact that the place Perschling is centrally located in the municipality and has a good infrastructure for local supply. The municipality of Weißenkirchen an der Perschling became the municipality of Perschling .
Public institutions, companies
Due to the central location in the community of Weißenkirchen, the kindergarten , the community office with the library , the community hall and the music school are currently located in the village . The local history museum and the volunteer fire brigade are also housed in the area of the former Gastegger inn. Right behind the municipal office, next to the kindergarten, a new school building for a four-class elementary school with a spacious gym was built . The new school has been in use since the 2012/13 school year .
An inn and butcher's, a grocery store, a 24-hour petrol station with a bistro and an electronics store form the basis for local supplies for the population living here. A bank branch and the ordination of the community doctor Dr. Haas with a medical pharmacy are located in the immediate vicinity of the municipal office.
Culture and museums
The local history museum is located in the area of the parish hall of the municipality of Perschling, located on the main street. In five rooms, equipment formerly used in agriculture and historical tools from commercial operations and prehistoric finds (mammoth bones) are shown on the one hand. The photo panels from the history of the 20th century are also worth seeing.
