Peter John Arundell (born November 8, 1933 in Ilford , Essex , now Redbridge , London , † June 16, 2009 ) was a British racing driver .
Career
Arundell started his racing career in the British Formula Junior , which he won in 1962. In 1963 he drove in Formula 2 and in the British Formula 3 championship , in which he became champion in the same year. He then switched to the World Automobile Championship and completed a total of eleven Grand Prix in the 1964 and 1966 seasons for the Lotus team.
His best finishes were two third places, which he directly in his first two races in 1964 at the Monaco Grand Prix and the Grand Prix of the Netherlands reached. This achievement was only broken in 2007 by Lewis Hamilton , who finished the first nine Grand Prix races on the podium. Up until his last race in the World Automobile Championship at the Mexican Grand Prix in 1966 , Peter Arundell received a total of twelve World Championship points.
