Peter Christoph von Zitzewitz (born July 19, 1721 in Lojow ; † January 13, 1800 at Gut Labehn ) was a Prussian major general .

Peter Christoph von Zitzewitz came from the noble family of those von Zitzewitz . He was the son of Peter Friedrich von Zitzewitz (1689–1736), Herr auf Dumröse , Lojow and Labehn and his wife Barbara Cordula, born von Hoym from the Poblotz family. His brother Johann Boguslaw von Zitzewitz (1724–1803) also embarked on a career in the military and later became major general.

Zitzewitz entered 1734 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Grumbkow" No. 17 . In 1738 he became an ensign , took part in both Silesian Wars and fought near Chotusitz and Hohenfriedberg . When thrush he was wounded and on October 3, 1745 First Lieutenant promoted. At the beginning of the Seven Years' War he was a staff captain . He was wounded again in the Battle of Lobositz on October 1, 1756. For the battle of Prague he was awarded the Pour le Mérite and a year later captain and company commander . During the course of the war he took part in the battles near Kolin (injured), Torgau and Freiberg , the battle of Neustadt and the sieges of Neisse and Brieg. In 1760 he was promoted to major and in 1761 to lieutenant colonel . As such, Zitzewitz became commander of the infantry regiment "von Rosen" No. 17 on May 8, 1768. He took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession as a colonel , was appointed major general on June 4, 1780 and shortly afterwards chief of the infantry regiment "von Kleist" No. 36. In April 1785, due to illness, Zitzewitz said goodbye with an annual pension of 1500 thalers and withdrew to his property in Pomerania. There he died at Gut Labehn.

He had already acquired the Klein Gluschen estate in 1766 .

family

Zitzewitz was married to Esther Agnese, née von Puttkamer (1732–1797) since 1765 . The sons Gustav Friedrich Georg (* around 1768, † 1777) and Friedrich (died young) emerged from the marriage.
