history

The oldest parish in this area was first mentioned in a document in 1147. In the 15th and 16th centuries the parish church was enlarged in the Gothic style . The buttresses , the pointed arched windows , the star rib vaults , the presbytery in the east ( high altar room ), the choir gallery on octagonal pillars ( west gallery), the south portal (side door), the sacristy door , the baptismal font , walled-in heraldic stones ( tombstones ) and the statues date from this time of Blasius of Sebaste and the Mater Dolorosa . A large leather wash picture showing a crucifixion , the tombstone of the fork stove in the chancel , the putti on the west gallery and the Florian von Lorch date from the Baroque period (17th and 18th centuries) . At the end of the 19th century the church was redesigned in a neo-Gothic style, this affected the high altar , two side altars , images of the Stations of the Cross and figures of saints (e.g. Sacred Heart statue , Marian column , Barbara of Nicomedia , Saint Joachim , Saint Anna , Margaret Maria Alacoque , Aloisius by Gonzaga , the apostles John and Jude Thaddeus , Francis of Assisi and Saint Anthony ). The church tower was given a pointed helmet instead of an onion dome . In 1947 a fresco of the Sermon on the Mount was created, and in 1965 the Altar of Mary was destroyed by fire. In 1967, according to the specifications of the Second Vatican Council , the church got a people's altar made of Mainz sandstone , the pulpit was removed and a tabernacle niche was built, the construction was completed in 1971. In 1991 the church received an organ with 32 registers from the Kögler organ building . In 2003 the interior of the church was renovated, a new ambo and a new seven-armed chandelier were designed.

architecture

The broad, five-bay nave with set buttresses - buttresses also protruding outwards on the south side - with presented round services on bases bears a star rib vault. The front arch is a constricted pointed arch. The Romanesque choir square is spanned by a ribbed vault with semicircular services that start near the floor. To the east, the square of the choir is adjoined by a single-bay, Gothic choir with a ribbed vault on consoles and a five-eighth end . In the choir there is a Gothic session niche with a hanging, tracery window and buttresses. The keystones of the vaults are round. The Gothic nave windows (without tracery) have glass panes from 1926 to 1931. The three-axis, rib-arched west gallery stands on two octagonal pillars and jumps back slightly in the middle. The mighty Romanesque square choir tower has a neo-Gothic structure with a richly shaped pointed helmet. The profiled south portal has a pointed arch. The sacristy portal has a door with iron plate fittings in a shoulder portal arch. The sacristy, connected to the north of the choir square, has a Gothic groin vault and a three-eighth closure. In the northern corner of the choir of the sacristy there is a stair tower. Another spiral staircase is located in the northwest corner of the nave as a staircase to the west gallery.

Furnishing

The neo-Gothic high altar from 1876 was created according to a design by the sculptor August Krumholz. The former high altar picture of the crucifixion is marked Joh. Löderwasch Pinxit 1806. The round, twelve-notched font from the 16th century has a hexagonal base. Coat of arms stones show inside: Jörg Schwarcz (16th century), Joh. Seyfried von Gabelkhoven, died 1707; outside: Franz Anton Weeßenthall, died 1757, with a crucifix and St. Francis under a canopy.

The organ has neo-Gothic shapes. There is a bell from 1533.

Karner

South of the parish church at the height of the choir is the former Karner, which has served as a war memorial since 1952. The rectangular building with a three-eighth end to the east has a recent wooden ceiling. The glass windows were created in 1951 by the glass painter F. Felfer. The sculpture was created by the sculptor K. Gollner.
