Philipp von Uttenhoven

Philipp Friedrich Wilhelm von Uttenhoven (born April 10, 1790 in Mittenwalde , † May 13, 1866 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

His parents were Philipp Friedrich von Uttenhoven (born July 11, 1747) and his wife Henriette Charlotte Friederike, née Bouton des Granges (born August 8, 1769 - April 25, 1790), a daughter of Major General Bouton des Granges . His father was a Prussian major and commander of the III. Battalions in Infantry Regiment No. 24.

Military career

Uttenhoven came on November 1, 1801 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Zenge" . There he became an ensign on January 19, 1803 and fought as such in the Fourth Coalition War in 1806 , where he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt . On December 4, 1809, he joined the East Prussian Jäger Battalion as a second lieutenant with a patent from October 8, 1806 . In the campaign of 1812 he fought in the battles near Eckau, Mesothen, Ruhenthal and Garossenkrug. On September 21, 1812 Uttenhoven received the order Pour le Mérite and on August 4, 1813 he came to the Adjutantur as Prime Lieutenant . In the Wars of Liberation he fought near Bautzen , Dresden , Kulm , Leipzig , the sieges of Mezieres, Sedan and Montmedy and the battles near Dessau, Halle, Waldau, Nollendorf, Liebertwolkwitz and St. Mihiel. For the latter he received the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class. At that time he was promoted to staff captain in the adjutantage on April 3, 1814 .

After the war he became a captain on June 11, 1815 and on September 24, 1815 as a company commander in the 2nd Jäger Battalion . On August 31, 1819, he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 3rd Breslau Landwehr Regiment and on March 12, 1820, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Battalion in the 18th Landwehr Regiment. This was followed from March 30, 1834 as a battalion commander in the 16th Infantry Regiment . On March 30, 1837 Uttenhoven was promoted to lieutenant colonel and commissioned him on March 30, 1838 to lead the 29th Infantry Regiment . On January 24, 1839, he was confirmed as commander. On March 30, 1839 he was promoted to colonel with a patent on April 3, 1839. On March 30, 1840 he was then commander of the 6th Infantry Regiment . For his achievements, Uttenhoven received the Order of the Red Eagle III on September 29, 1841 . Class with a bow. On July 29, 1842 he became commander of the 13th Landwehr Brigade. In the same capacity, Uttenhoven took over the 3rd Infantry Brigade in Stettin on August 9, 1842 and was promoted to major general on March 22, 1845 in this position . In mid-September 1845, Uttenhoven received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On October 12, 1849, he was transferred to Frankfurt (Oder) and appointed commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade . Under awarding of the character as a lieutenant general Uttenhoven received on 3 October 1850 board his farewell .

After his retirement he was awarded the crown to the Order Pour le Mérite on January 9, 1862. He died on May 13, 1866 in Görlitz and was buried on May 15, 1866 in Warmbrunn in the Giant Mountains .

family

Uttenhoven married Freiin Ernestine Charlotte Emilie von Zedlitz and Neukirch on November 5, 1821 in Hohenliebenthal (* November 5, 1799; † May 1, 1870). She was a sister of Major General Baron Konrad von Zedlitz and Neukirch (1789–1869). The couple had two children:
