Piers Anthony

Piers Anthony Dillingham Jacob (born August 6, 1934 in Oxford ) is an American writer , best known as a writer of science fiction and fantasy .

Life

When he was four years old, his family moved with him to Spain . In 1940 she fled the civil war and the Franco regime to the USA , where Piers Anthony spent his further childhood. He also went to school there . He wasn't exactly a model student and spent three years in first grade before he could read and write.

In 1956 Piers Anthony graduated from Goddard College, Vermont, and married Carol Ann Marbel (Cam for short). In 1958 he obtained American citizenship after serving in the US Army . Piers and Cam settled in Florida after his military service, where they still live today. Her daughters were named Penny (* 1967 - September 3, 2009) and Cheryl (* 1970). Carol Ann Marble Jacob died on October 3, 2019.

After a few jobs as a lecturer and English teacher , he quit and started writing; since then he has also shortened his name for practical reasons.

Its first story was published in 1962. His first novel appeared five years later. Anthony's breakthrough came with the novels from the magical world of Xanth . In 1977 the first novel in the series won the British Fantasy Award .

Well over 100 novels have been published by Anthony.
