The administrative region borders on Sobradinho , Sobradinho II , Planaltina (Goiás) , Formosa (Goiás) and Paranoá .
history
The founding date is given as 1859, but the date is controversial. The place was formerly called Mestre d'Armas. On September 7, 1922, the foundation stone was laid in the area where the future new capital of Brazil was to be. The location of the capital was later moved another 40 km to the southwest. With the establishment of the new capital Brasília on April 21, 1960, the area was divided into two parts. The part with the historical center was located within the newly established Brazilian federal district, the other part remained part of the state of Goiás . In the part that remained near Goias, a new administrative center was set up with the name Planaltina de Goiás , also known as "Brasilinha" ("Little Brasília") in the region.
