The history
The Pleiße cycle path is approx. 110 km long and connects the cities in the Zwickauer Land , the Altenburg district in Thuringia with the district and the city of Leipzig . It begins in Ebersbrunn near Zwickau and runs via Werdau and Crimmitschau to Leipzig. It crosses the industrial region of southwest Saxony , open landscapes in East Thuringia, the lignite area in the southern area of Leipzig, the Leipziger Neuseenland and the city of Leipzig. The route in the south goes largely through contiguous cities and communities and leads largely over asphalt and cobblestone streets. In addition, the signs between Werdau and Lichtentanne (Ebersbrunn) leave a lot to be desired. Only from Deutzen (district of Leipzig) does the route become significantly better and is signposted all the way to Leipzig.
