The mean mean temperature in Plymouth ranges from −14.5 ° C (6 ° Fahrenheit ) in January to 27.8 ° C (82 ° Fahrenheit) in July. This means that the place is about 3 degrees warmer than the long-term mean of Vermont in summer, while winter temperatures are close to the average. history

The town was proclaimed on July 6, 1761 under the name Saltash by Benning Wentworth , but was not settled until 1777. The first city assembly took place around 1787; the exact date is not known. Finds of limestone and marble led to the founding of quarries around 1800, which, however, had no lasting commercial success due to the poor transport connections and were abandoned when other quarries such as the one in Rutland were opened up with railway lines. In the district of Plymouth Notch, the future President Calvin Coolidge was born in 1872 . The house where he was born and other buildings related to Coolidge form the Calvin Coolidge Homestead District , which has been a National Historic Landmark since June 1965 .

Religions

In the core of the settlement of Tyson there is a congregation of the United Church of Christ .
