The 61st Tour of Poland took place from September 6th to 13th, 2004. It was held in eight stages over a distance of 1264.5 km. The first four stages were flat stages, the following four mountain stages.
148 drivers started the competition with 18 teams (including 7 Polish) and a Polish junior representation. 75 drivers crossed the finish line. The total length of the race was 1264.5 kilometers.
The first place, after winning the final time trial, went to the Czech Ondřej Sosenka (Acqua & Sapone) who managed to repeat his 2001 victory, then in the colors of the Polish team CCC Polsat. The prize for the winner was PLN 27,000.
The race was the first since 1998 in which no Pole was on the podium.
It was the last edition of the race in category 2.2. From 2005 the race was included in the elite class, the UCI ProTour , following a decision by the UCI .
