action

The Washington DC waitress Sunny Davis happened to save an Arab emir from an attack. She is hurt in the process; she is hailed as a heroine in the media.

The State Department asked Davis to accompany the emir during his visit to the United States. It is repeated several times that the emir should enjoy himself . Davis is hired by the State Department.

The emir falls in love with Davis, who accompanies him to his country. There she learns that she should marry him, even though he already has several wives. The State Department agreed on the wedding, and in return the US was allowed to build a military base. A revolution breaks out in the country and Davis returns to the USA.

Davis quits her position at the State Department, which her colleague Michael Ransome does too. She testifies before a US Senate committee . She says she only read the U.S. Constitution after meeting the emir. Your bosses at the Foreign Ministry had done it earlier, but did not understand what was there.

Davis is a candidate for United States Congress , and Ransome becomes her campaign manager and husband. She wins the election.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times that the character played by Goldie Hawn was original. He couldn't believe the film had a " standardized Hollywood ending ." He also criticized a party scene that contained " clichés ".

Dave Kehr wrote in the Chicago Reader that every scene serves the " ego " of the leading actress, which has " oceanic " dimensions. Some characters have no function.
