History and population

The place name Rödt is derived from the clearing of the forest. Rödt was first mentioned in 1492 as Reuth in Stiftsurbar Mondsee. The hamlet consisted of four farms in the 18th century, the Brandhuber in Rödt 1 (formerly Riedergut, Prandhubergut, Gut zu Reith or Rißengut), the Heslbauer in Rödt 2 (formerly Mayrgut), the Paul in Rödt 3 (formerly Reidergut, Paullehengut or Ainreithergut) and the Weißauer in Rödt 4 (formerly also Gut zu Reith or Ainreithergut). Of the original four courtyards, all of them still exist today with the exception of the Paulgut. In 1869, 31 people lived in eight houses in Rödt. By 1910 the population increased slightly, with 36 inhabitants in eight houses that year. All residents of the village were of the Catholic faith.
