The dzhankoy raion (Ukrainian Джанкойський район / Dschankojskyj rayon ; Russian Джанкойский район / Dschankoiski rayon , Crimean Canköy rayoni ) is a Ukrainian Rayon in the Crimean Autonomous Republic . It has a total population of around 82,000 and covers an area of 2,667 km². It includes two urban-type settlements, 106 villages and 5 settlements organized in 26 district councils.
geography
The Raion is located in the north of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, it is bordered to the north by the Lazy sea with the behind in the Kherson Oblast lying Rajonen Henichesk and Nowotrojizke , in the southeast on the Nyzhnohirskyi Raion , to the south by Rajon Krasnohvardiiske , on the southwest by the Raion Pervomayske and in the northwest to the Krasnoperekopsk Raion . It completely encloses the eponymous city of Dschankoj , but this is not itself part of it.
