Randolph "Randy" Mantooth (born September 19, 1945 in Sacramento , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Randolph Mantooth grew up with his brother Donald and his two sisters Nancy and Tonya as the son of a German and an Indian father. Due to his father's occupation as a construction worker, Mantooth had to move from one city to the next very often in his youth, but learned to speak many different accents early on. Mantooth first attended the San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara , where he participated in some performances of the school theater, and already took acting classes during his following time at Santa Barbara City College.

He then studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, where, in addition to acting, he also learned fencing, ballet and facial expressions. Famous classmates included Kate Jackson (Charlie's Angels) and Joe Regalbuto (Street Hawk) . During this time Mantooth lived in Madison Avenue Babtist Church and worked here as a night watchman.

Mantooth was married to actress Rosemarie Parra from 1978 to 1991. The marriage ended in divorce. Since 2002 Mantooth has been married to Kristen Connors for the second time. Best man was serial colleague Kevin Tighe . In his spare time, Mantooth is committed to sick children as well as to the fire and rescue services and tours the USA as a spokesperson for the fire service and medical events.

Career

While in college, Randolph Mantooth starred in the theater production Philadelphia Here I Come and was honored with the Charles Jehlenger Award for his performance . Here he was noticed by talent scouts from Universal Studios , so that he was finally offered a contract. This was followed by small roles in television films and series such as Adam-12 and The Bold Ones , where he convinced Robert A. Cinader, the later producer of Emergency Call California . Cinader saw Mantooth as the ideal cast for the role of firefighter John Gage, who filled Mantooth for seven years at the side of Kevin Tighe, Bobby Troup , Julie London and Robert Fuller and thereby became a teen idol of the 1970s. In the 1980s, Mantooth was a popular guest star in television series such as Love Boat , A Colt for All Occasions , Charlie's Angels and Dallas , before he took on the role of Clay Alden in the soap Loving in New York . In 1993 Mantooth got out of the series to accept a contract for the series General Hospital and also return to the theater stages on Broadway. In 1995 he returned to Loving , however. To this day, Mantooth has played in various films, series and plays, some of which are also staged himself. In addition, Mantooth has meanwhile completed the work on the script The Bone Game and is currently working on the USAR-1 series project . In this series, which, like Emergency Call California, is about the emergency services and the Los Angeles Fire Department, Mantooth not only wants to play himself, but also wants to produce and direct the series.
