Rasschua ( Russian Остров Расшуа ; Japanese 羅 処 和 島 , Rasushua -tō ) is an uninhabited volcanic island in the Kuril archipelago and administratively belongs to the Russian Oblast Sakhalin .
Rasschua is located almost 30 kilometers southwest of the island of Matua and 16 km northeast of Ushishir . The island is about 15 km long, up to 6.5 km wide and has an area of 67 km². It is formed by an active stratovolcano of the same name and reaches a height of 948 m above sea level. The last eruption of the Rasschua took place in 1957.
