Real Racing 3 is a racing game released in 2013 , developed by Firemonkeys Studios in Australia and distributed worldwide by Electronic Arts for iOS , Android , Nvidia Shield and BlackBerry 10 . Real Racing 3 is the successor to Real Racing 2 (2010) and Real Racing (2009). It has been offered as a freemium game on iOS and Android since February 28, 2013 .

The racing game contains almost exclusively real race tracks such as Hockenheimring , Nürburgring , Spa or Indianapolis and real existing licensed vehicles, including BMW , Mercedes-Benz , Audi , Porsche , Lamborghini , Bugatti , Ford , Ferrari , McLaren , Koenigsegg etc. In addition to the classic racing series there there is a NASCAR series and a Formula E series.

Real Racing TV

This is a new YouTube channel from Real Racing 3 that presents in-game news. The videos can be viewed in-game, but the videos will be updated depending on the news. All videos are in English.

Gameplay

At the beginning of the game, the new player is given a Porsche 911 GT3 RS on loan to complete the first races. After the introduction, the player must buy their first car ( Nissan Silvia S15 or Ford Focus RS ). With each race the player receives play money (racing dollar R $), fame points and, when certain races are completed, gold points. The racing dollars and gold points can be used to improve your own vehicles, buy new vehicles, pay for maintenance and skip races and maintenance times. The player has the choice of waiting for the vehicle to improve after a certain period of time, or investing racing dollars and gold to speed it up. Racing dollars and gold can be purchased for real money (price range: € 0.99 - € 99.99). The player rises to the driver level through fame points and receives gold points with each new level.

Game modes

There are different racing events on the respective racetracks, which are held in 9 racing series. In each racing series there are 12 to 28 event series, each with up to 66 races, which are divided into 22 levels. The following higher levels can only be driven if enough trophies (for placements 1 to 3) have been achieved on the lower levels.

The different types of races:

  • Cup - a classic race with 8 to 22 participants. There is no qualification, the player always starts last from a fixed starting grid.
  • Speed Snap - a certain speed must be reached at a specified point on a route
  • Autocross - a certain section of the route must be completed in a specified time
  • Elimination - The player starts as the last of 8 participants, every 20 seconds the last person in the field is taken out of the race, the goal is to be first
  • Jäger - A Nissan Silvia starts with a lead on a track and must be overtaken or overtaken; the track is measured in front of or behind the vehicle to be followed
  • Endurance - starts with a time limit of 60 seconds, every overtaking of another vehicle brings 10 additional seconds, every crossing of the finish line results in a distance-dependent time bonus. The aim is to drive as long as possible
  • Drag Race - In this drag race, which in contrast to the rest of the game requires manual shifting, the aim is to complete a quarter mile in the shortest possible time
  • Speed record - the highest speed has to be achieved on a complete lap
  • Time trial - with a flying start, the aim is to complete a lap in the shortest possible time without straying from the track or hitting the boundary
  • NASCAR - This race is only held in a separate series with NASCAR vehicles. Up to 44 vehicles can be involved here, starting with a flying start
  • Formula E - In Formula E races, only electric vehicles compete in a classic race with the special feature that there is only a certain battery life per vehicle that the player has to manage

With each update there are also time-limited racing series and competitions with which new vehicles can be won.

TSM

As Time Shifted Multiplayer ( TSM ), a mechanism is referred to within the game, in which a time lag against other real players compete. The lap times of real players are "tracked" by computer-controlled players. The choice of opponents and thus the difficulty always adapts to the strength of the player, which should keep the game exciting. Beating friendly players gives you an additional bonus.

control

Real Racing 3 is controlled via the screen or the motion sensor. There are 7 different setting options with variable sensitivity. The vehicles can automatically accelerate and brake depending on the setting selected. It is always switched automatically. It is always steered manually. The game can also be controlled via a controller (e.g. on the Nvidia Shield ).
