René Toft Hansen (born November 1, 1984 in Rybjerg , Skive Kommune ) is a Danish handball player .
Career
society
The 2.00 meter tall and 105 kilogram heavy cyclist played in his youth at HRH 74 Roslev and Skive fH . In the senior sector, he came to KIF Kolding in 2007 through HF Mors and Viborg HK . With Kolding he played in the European Cup Winners' Cup in 2007/08 and 2008/09 and in the EHF Champions League in the 2009/10 season . In 2009 he became Danish champion.
On July 1, 2010, Hansen moved to AG København . There he won the championship in the Danish Håndboldligaen in 2011 and 2012 . In the 2011/12 Champions League season he and his team only failed in the semifinals at Atlético Madrid .
Since summer 2012, René Toft Hansen has been playing for the top German club THW Kiel , with whom he won the DHB Cup in 2013 and 2017 and the German championship in 2013, 2014 and 2015. After Filip Jícha left , he was the new captain of the THW Kiel team, but for the 2016/17 season he handed this position over to Domagoj Duvnjak at his own request .
In summer 2018 he moved to the Hungarian club KC Veszprém , with which he won the Hungarian championship in 2019. After playing for the Portuguese club Benfica Lisbon in the 2019/20 season, he moved to the Danish club Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in summer 2020 .
National team
René Toft Hansen made his debut for the Danish national team on September 7, 2005 against Norway . So far, he has played 147 international matches. At the 2011 World Cup in Sweden , he won the silver medal with the Danes, before winning the European Championship with Denmark in Serbia in 2012 . In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London . In 2013 he was again runner- up with Denmark . At the 2014 European Championships in his own country, he was runner-up in Europe. He won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro . He became world champion at the 2019 World Cup.
Private
René Toft Hansen has two brothers and two sisters. His brother Henrik plays handball for the French Bundesliga club Paris Saint-Germain , Allan (* 1996) for the Danish first division club Mors-Thy Håndbold . His sister Majbritt (* 1993) plays in the Danish league at Aarhus United , the youngest, Jeanette (* 2000), in the youth department. With the exception of left-handed Jeanette, all are circular.
