Rick Girard (born May 1, 1974 in Edmonton , Alberta ) is a former Canadian - German ice hockey player who last played in the DEL at ERC Ingolstadt and has been a German citizen since 2006.
Career
As a junior, Rick Girard played for the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL . After good performances there, he chose the Vancouver Canucks in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft in the second round off at the 46th place.
The professional career of the center began in 1993 with the Vancouver farm team Hamilton Canucks in the American Hockey League , in the following years he played for the new AHL farm team, the Syracuse Crunch , but without making the leap into the NHL. Via the Cleveland Lumberjacks , the Canadian came to the Kaufbeurer Eagles in the DEL in 1997 , which he left after the season for the Augsburg Panthers . The left-handed shooter's other DEL stations were the Schwenninger Wild Wings ( 1999/2000 ), the Munich Barons ( 2000/01 ) and the Frankfurt Lions ( 2001 to 2003 ).
Rick Girard has been playing for Adler Mannheim since the 2006/07 season , with whom he won the German championship and the German ice hockey cup in their first year together . Due to his German passport, which he acquired in 2006, Girard no longer has a foreign position. After the 2008/09 season , the attacker's contract in Mannheim was not extended, he then moved to Ingolstadt.
He ended his career in July 2012.
