The Belgian Ring 1 , also called Antwerp Ring ( French : Ring d'Anvers or Dutch : Ring rond Antwerp ), is a 17 km long urban motorway around the Belgian city of Antwerp . The R1 starts in the north of Antwerp, with the A1 motorway , which comes from the direction of Breda Netherlands . Gradually, the A13 from Liège or Aachen Germany and the A12 to Brussels , at the Antwerpen-Oost junction and the Antwerpen-Zuid junction. The ring leads after the Kreuz-Süd below the Scheldt through the Kennedy tunnel . After the tunnel, the motorway continues on the A14 in the direction of Gent and Kortrijk , but the actual motorway ring continues north, where it then runs as the A11 to Assenede .
