The Belgian Ring 2 , also known as the Großer Ring Antwerpen ( Dutch : Grote ring rond Antwerpen ), is a 13 km long urban motorway and western bypass around the Belgian city of Antwerp . The R2 begins in the north of Antwerp with the A12 motorway , which comes from the Netherlands. The motorway ring has four exits, but also three tunnels that run below the inlet rivers to the Antwerp port . The ring is interesting for trucks , as the port area is easily accessible with the R2. It is also an abbreviation for the cars that come from the Netherlands and want to go to Ghent or Bruges . However, the ring is rather moderately congested, as most of the traffic is on ring 1 near the center.
