Rob Langereis
Robert "Rob" Langereis (born February 7, 1939 in Amsterdam ; † August 8, 2014 in Bussum ) was a Dutch jazz bassist (also electric bass , guitar ).
Live and act
Langereis (also Rob Langerijs ) played in the quartet of pianist Misha Mengelberg from the mid-1960s ; According to Michiel de Ruyter , the quartet, which performed at the Newport Jazz Festival in 1966 , “first with Jacques Schols and then Rob Langereis on bass, [...] had become one of the best jazz groups in the Netherlands in the mid-1960s ever produced. ”In the 1960s and 1970s he worked a. a. with the Klaus Weiss Trio, the Festival Big Band ( Explosive!, 1971), the Piet Noordijk Quartet and the Rob Agerbeek Quintet. Between 1978 and 1999 he was a member of the Metropole Orkest , with which numerous recordings were made. He also worked with The Skymasters (the AVRO big band ), the Timeless Orchestra and in a duo with Frans Elsen . He was also a lecturer at the Conservatory of Hilversum operates.
In the field of jazz he was involved in 129 recording sessions between 1966 and 1999. a. at Eef Albers , Pia Beck , Don Byas , Blind John Davis , Dusko Goykovich , Peter Herbolzheimer , Chris Hinze , Pim Jacobs , Greetje Kauffeld , Little Willie Littlefield , Tete Montoliu , Wim Overgaauw , Rogier van Otterloo , Zoot Sims , Toots Thielemans , Conny Vandenbos and Ben Webster ( Live in Amsterdam , 1969). As a guest of the WDR Big Band Köln in 1988 he took part in recordings with Friedrich Gulda and Joe Zawinul ( Music for Two Pianos ).
