Robert von Eberstein

Karl Michael Robert Freiherr von Eberstein (born August 28, 1801 in Stallupönen , † September 14, 1882 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm von Eberstein (1753-1810) and his wife Friederike Wilhelmine, née Jacobi (1763-1831). His father was Colonel a. D. , most recently in the 2nd East Prussian Infantry Regiment and knight of the order Pour le Mérite . The later major general Karl Friedrich August von Eberstein was his brother.

Military career

Eberstein came to Berlin as a cadet on August 31, 1815 and was transferred to the Emperor Franz Grenadier Regiment of the Prussian Army as a second lieutenant on May 5, 1818 . From 1822 to 1825 he graduated from the General War School . On July 20, 1831, Eberstein was promoted to prime lieutenant and was then commanded from March 31, 1834 to June 23, 1839 for rifle tests in Sömmerda . On April 25, 1839, when he was promoted to captain, he was appointed company commander . On March 27, 1847 he was major and commander of the III. Battalions in the 3rd Guards Landwehr Regiment in Lissa. This was followed by a position as commander of the Guard Rifle Battalion from June 17, 1851 . In this capacity Eberstein advanced to lieutenant colonel on March 22, 1853 , before being appointed commander of the 26th Infantry Regiment in Magdeburg on October 26, 1854 . On July 12, 1855, he was promoted to colonel . On October 29, 1857, he was transferred to Kolberg as a commander under position à la suite of his regiment . On January 12, 1858, he received the Commander's Cross, Second Class, of the Order of Albrecht the Bear . On January 2, 1859 Eberstein was awarded the character as a major general with the statutory board for disposition made.

family

Eberstein married on May 18, 1826 in Berlin Pauline von Eberty (1800–1882), a daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Ernst Wilhelm von Eberty (1762–1824). The couple had the following children:
