The Rolls-Royce Phantom VII (originally referred to as the 'Phantom' by the manufacturer) is a car model from the automobile manufacturer Rolls-Royce Motor Cars .

It was manufactured as a sedan with a normal wheelbase and as a sedan with an extended wheelbase ( Phantom Extended Wheelbase ). Based on the sedan, the models Phantom Drophead Coupé (Cabriolet) and Phantom Coupé were also offered.

history

The German automaker BMW has held the trademark rights to Rolls-Royce since July 28, 1998 . In Goodwood in the south of England the vehicle with the project name RR01 was created after initial difficulties. The start-up phase ended on January 3, 2003 and after four years of development the result was presented. The name of the vehicle is in the tradition of the Rolls-Royce company; it is already the seventh vehicle model with the name Rolls-Royce Phantom . Technically, however, it has nothing in common with the similarly named Rolls-Royce Phantom VI , which was built until 1991 .

Phantom Coupé Series II (2012-2016)

In 2011 there was a subtle facelift . In the new models, the round headlights had to give way to modern LED units. There were also dynamic cornering lights and a revised navigation system . Furthermore, the existing 6-speed automatic was replaced by an 8-speed automatic, which reduces CO 2 emissions from 385 to 347 grams per kilometer.

Today, various assemblies are also built in German locations, but the entire assembly and customization is still carried out in Goodwood.

In 2012, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, 14 Rolls-Royce Phantoms were newly registered in Germany, without exception by commercial owners.

Production of the Phantom ended at the end of January 2017, the successor model Phantom VIII was presented on July 27, 2017. It will have its public premiere at the IAA in September 2017 in Frankfurt am Main , and it will go on sale in 2018. The Cabriolet and Coupé will not have a successor.
