Roma Jazz Festival

The Roma Jazz Festival is a year since 1976 in Rome held forming Jazz Festival.

Initially it was part of the Roman cultural program during the summer, but was later relocated to the autumn (October, November). It has moved several times in Rome and is now taking place in the Auditorium Parco della Musica . It is supported by the IMF (International Music Festival, founded 2006) by Mario Ciampà , the festival's founder and artistic director, in close cooperation with the city's cultural representative in Rome. It also organizes the Roma Blues Festival, the Roma Gospel Festival and the Festival del Mediterraneo.

Over the years, Miles Davis , Dizzy Gillespie , Modern Jazz Quartet , Sarah Vaughan , Gato Barbieri , Gerry Mulligan , Woody Herman , Richard Galliano , John McLaughlin , Joe Henderson , Betty Carter , Tânia Maria , McCoy Tyner , Chick Corea have played here , David Murray , Pharoah Sanders , Jim Hall , Sonny Rollins , Wayne Shorter , Ray Charles , Egberto Gismonti , Diana Krall and Norah Jones .

To non-jazz musicians Bob Dylan , BB King , Fats Domino .

In 2011, for example, Enrico Rava , Stefano Bollani , Dee Dee Bridgewater and Pat Metheny performed .

In 2012 Manu Katché , Aldo Romano , Louis Sclavis , Henri Texier , Herbie Hancock (solo), Gianluca Petrella performed .

The festival focuses on annual themes, for example visual jazz in 2012 .
