The Town of Roxbury is located in southern Wisconsin, in the northwest suburb of the capital Madison . In the extreme northwest corner, the town is bounded by the Wisconsin River . The intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota is located on the Mississippi and lies around 160 km west-northwest; to Illinois it is around 95 km south.

The US Highway 12 runs northwest-southeast direction by the Town of Roxbury. In the northwest, across from Sauk City, Wisconsin State Highway 78 and Wisconsin State Highway 188 meet with US 12. In addition, the County Highways V and Y run through the area of the town. All other roads are subordinate country roads or partly unpaved roads.
The nearest airport is Dane County Regional Airport in Madison (35 km east-southeast).
