Ruth Rehmann
Ruth Rehmann (born June 1, 1922 in Siegburg ; † January 29, 2016 in Trostberg ) was a German writer .
Life
Ruth Rehmann was the daughter of a Rhenish Protestant pastor . After graduating from high school in 1940, she attended an interpreting school for English and French in Hamburg. Then she began studying art history , archeology and German at the Universities of Bonn and Marburg. From 1943 she studied music at universities in Cologne and Berlin, majoring in the violin . This study was interrupted by a service obligation in the Wehrmacht , where she worked as an office worker in 1944/1945. In 1945 she fled to Upper Bavaria and settled in Chiemgau .
In 1947 she resumed her music studies, which she completed in 1951 in violin with the concert qualification at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf . She then worked temporarily as a teacher for German and English in Bavarian country school homes , as an interpreter and as a press officer for various foreign embassies in Germany. At the same time she made trips to Algeria , Greece and France and began to publish literary works; She read from her first novel at a conference of Group 47 . In addition to novels and short stories, she has also written numerous radio plays .
Ruth Rehmann has been involved in the peace movement since 1979 ; in the federal election in 1983 she was a candidate of the Greens for the district of Traunstein and Berchtesgaden . She was a member of the PEN Center Germany and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts .
