Ryan Hamilton (born April 15, 1985 in Oshawa , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current scout , who played 32 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League between 2001 and 2018 on the position of the left winger . Mainly, however, Hamilton played for numerous teams in the American Hockey League , where he completed almost 700 games and acted as team captain of the Toronto Marlies and Bakersfield Condors .

Hamilton first spent his junior years until the start of the 2002/03 season in the British Columbia Hockey League with the Burnaby Bulldogs and in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors , before moving to the Barrie Colts in the Ontario Hockey League . There the striker was active until the spring of 2006, before he made his professional debut in the American Hockey League with a trial contract with the Houston Eros .

In July 2006, the undrafted free agent received a three-year NHL entry contract from the Minnesota Wild from the National Hockey League , who were in cooperation with the Houston Eros. There Hamilton finally played the following two and a half years until January 2009, without being used in the NHL for the Wild. On January 21, he was finally given in exchange for Robbie Earl to the Toronto Maple Leafs , in which he was only used in the AHL for the Toronto Marlies . This did not change until the 2011/12 season . It wasn't until his seventh year as a professional that the winger finally made his debut in the NHL. The breakthrough did not succeed and so by the end of his four-year engagement in Toronto he only completed 14 missions for the Maple Leafs. He was mainly used for the Marlies in the AHL, whose team captain he was between 2011 and 2013.

From Toronto, Hamilton moved in the summer of 2013 in the hope of a chance in the NHL as a free agent to the Edmonton Oilers , where he also became a permanent fixture in their farm teams , the Oklahoma City Barons and Bakersfield Condors , for the next five years . He was also the captain of the latter between its founding in summer 2015 and the end of his career in summer 2018. For Edmonton, Hamilton came in only two seasons to a total of 18 other NHL games in the five years. After retiring from active sports at the age of 33, he was hired by the San Jose Sharks from the NHL as a scout for professional gaming.
