Career

Ryan Jones was selected as the 111th overall player by the Minnesota Wild during the 2004 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round . He then played for the Miami University ice hockey team for four years . Towards the end of the 2007/08 season Jones made his professional ice hockey debut when he played in four regular season games and four playoffs for Minnesota's farm team , the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League . In the playoffs he scored a goal and an assist .

On July 1, 2008, the Canadian was given to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Marek Židlický together with a second-round vote in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft . The 2008/09 season began the attacker first in the squad of their AHL farm team, the Milwaukee Admirals , but he was appointed to the NHL Predators squad during the season. Jones scored his first goal in the National Hockey League on October 15, 2008 against the Dallas Stars .

The Nashville Predators put him on March 3, 2010 on the waiver list, from which Jones was taken over by the Edmonton Oilers . In the first two seasons for the Oilers, Jones had 58 points (35 goals, 23 assists). On December 31, 2012, he was injured in the eye by a puck, which was partly seen as the reason for his lower scores (13 points - 4 goals) in the next two seasons. The beginning of the 2013/14 season he started with the then AHL - Farm Team of the Oilers - the Oklahoma City Barons - but was called back to the NHL team after 4 games.

Although he was looking for an engagement in the NHL again for the 2014/15 season and therefore wanted to stay in North America, he moved to Europe after an expiring trial contract with the AHL team of the Vancouver Canucks and has been playing in the DEL for Cologne since November 2014 Sharks . At the end of the season, his contract was extended for a further two years, although after the disappointing 2014/15 season for the Haie, a change was made, especially among the foreign contingent players.

He ended his career in April 2019.
