Ryan Ramsay (born May 18, 1983 in Ajax , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
North America (1999-2007)
Ramsay began his ice hockey career in 1999 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League with the Peterborough Petes . In the 2000/01 season he moved within the league to the Kitchener Rangers . There, the 1.82 m center developed into one of the top performers and demonstrated its talent. In total, Ramsay completed 76 games for the Rangers and was able to achieve 71 points scorer. In the summer of 2002, the center joined the Plymouth Whalers , with whom he also stayed for only two years. Ramsay was able to improve again and scored 165 points in 120 games.
For the 2004/05 season , the left-handed shot moved to the professional camp in the American Hockey League to the Worcester IceCats , the then farm team of the St. Louis Blues . In his first season in the AHL he was part of the regular squad. After the team changed hands in 2004 and moved to Peoria in 2005 , Ramsay also had to relocate his workplace to Peoria, where he went on the ice for the Peoria Rivermen .
Europe (2007-2014)
In 2007, the people in charge of the Krefeld Penguins became aware of the Canadian and signed him for the 2007/08 season . Ramsay completed 51 games for the penguins and scored 42 points scorer. This made him the fifth best scorer on his team. In the summer of 2008 the attacker was signed by the DEG Metro Stars , for whom he went on the ice in the 2008/09 season .
On September 2, 2009 it was announced that Ryan Ramsay will play for the Straubing Tigers in the 2009/10 season after DEG had terminated his contract after one year. Ramsay played a successful season in Straubing, becoming the best template provider and top scorer in Lower Bavaria. After a year he left Straubing again and joined the Cologne Sharks . After a year with the Kölner Haien, he will return to the Straubing Tigers in the 2011/12 season. In 2012 he switched to the Italian Serie A1 , where he signed a contract with Ritten Sport . There the attacker missed a large part of the games due to a protracted neck injury, so his contract was no longer extended.
On July 21, 2013, the Schwenninger Wild Wings announced the commitment of the Canadian, he will return to the DEL. After it became known that Ramsay would be out of action for the remainder of the 2014/15 season due to a hand injury , his contract in Schwenningen was terminated by mutual agreement in December 2014.
