Sękowice (German Schenkendorf , Lower Sorbian Šenkojce ) is a place in Gmina Gubin in Lower Lusatia in Poland . Until the 19th century it was the center of the Schenkendorf rule .
history
The place was first mentioned in the 14th century. His name was probably derived from the Landsberg taverns . He was the center of the small rule Schenkendorf . From 1512 it belonged to the Sonnenburg Castle , the seat of the master masters of the Order of St. John .
After the order was dissolved in 1811, Schenkendorf came under royal Saxon rule and in 1815 became part of the Kingdom of Prussia . It was in the Guben district .
In 1945 the place became Polish. Until 2007 there was a border crossing to Guben in its vicinity .
