The gmina wiejska Gubin is an independent rural municipality in Poland in the Powiat Krośnieński in the Lubusz Voivodeship . Its seat is in the city of Gubin ( German Guben ).

geography

The rural municipality includes the city of Gubin in the north, east and south, that is to say completely on the Polish side. In the west, the rural community otherwise borders on Germany : The cities of Forst (Lausitz) and Guben , as well as the communities of Neißemünde and Schenkendöbern .

Neighboring communities of Gmina are: Bobrowice (Bobersberg), Brody (Pförten), Cybinka (Ziebingen), Krosno Odrzańskie (Crossen / Oder), Lubsko (Sommerfeld) and Maszewo (Messow) and the city of Gubin.

The municipal area makes up 27.32% of the area of ​​the district (Powiat), 32% of the area is agricultural land and 57% is forest.

Waters

The area of ​​the rural community of Gubin is crossed by numerous smaller rivers, the largest of which, the Lubsza (Lubst) coming from the southeast, flows into the Lusatian Neisse in the center of the town of Gubin . In the southwest of the municipality the Wodra (Werder) flows , in the north the Stekinik (stickleback ditch ) with confluence with the Jezioro Borek (Mönchssee) , and the Łomianka (Strieming) , which flows into the Oder .

The rural community of Gubin was created on January 15, 1976 through the merger of the previously independent rural communities Grabice , Stargard Gubiński and Wałowice . Until 1998 the municipality belonged to the Zielona Góra Voivodeship (Grünberg / Silesia) .

Attractions

  • In the village of Luboszyce (love seat) there is a neo-Gothic castle from the years 1846-1850 with a beautiful landscape park and in the vicinity an important archaeological seat of the love seat culture from the second to fourth centuries (remains of a settlement and a cemetery).
  • In contrast, only remnants of Buderose Castle in Budoradz are left.
  • In the village of Amtitz was the Amtitz Castle, where the politician Heinrich zu Schoenaich-Carolath lived. The registry office Amtitz had its seat in Amtitz.

Sons and daughters of the church

  • Christoph Otto von Schönaich (* 1725 at Schloss Amtitz; † 1807), German writer
  • Heinrich zu Schoenaich-Carolath (* 1852 at Schloss Amtitz; † 1920), German politician and free ruler and majorate at Schloss Amtitz. He worked as district administrator of the Guben district, as a member of the Prussian manor house and the Reichstag.
