Sarıtosun ( Kurdish : Coneg ) is a Kurdish - Alevi settlement in the district of Yayladere in the Turkish province of Bingöl . Sarıtosun is about 5 km from the district capital Yayladere.

The original name was Cönek. The local population uses the historical name as "Coneg" or "Conag". The name was added to the land register in the form "Cönek". It is possible that Armenians originally lived in the village. At the beginning of the Armenian genocide , according to reports from village elders, there was an Armenian shopkeeper in the village who was fleeing the chaos of war.

Sarıtosun, at that time still with the name form Cönek, was a Bucak in the first years of the republic , to which the today's district capital Yayladere (then Holhol) belonged. In 1936 Holhol became Bucak instead of Cönek. The first village school in Sarıtosun was built in the 1960s. At that time, Sarıtosun consisted of 120 households ( hane ). The school building is in ruins today. Threats from the PKK , which refused to tolerate classes in Turkish , led to the school being closed in the 1990s.

The village has been connected to the public electricity and telephone network since the 1980s. In 1998, Sarıtosun lost its status as a village and has since been administratively a quarter ( mahalle ) of the district town of Yayladere. Sarıtosun was renamed Conag in 2015.
Sarıtosun has had a drinking water supply and sewerage system since 2004 and 2005 respectively. The population is aging. Many former residents and their families spend the summer in Sarıtosun. About 50 people live in Sarıtosun in winter and up to 150 in summer. A long-time Muhtar was Haydar Beken.
