action

In a small village on the East Frisian North Sea coast, people dream of a better life or try to defend their crooked, better life against others. While they are going about their work or employment, the village syndicate suddenly cracks the lottery jackpot and wins 25 million euros. Now there would be enough money for everyone. Instead, envy and resentment begin to determine who gets how much and especially who gets nothing. Every means is right for everyone, as long as the money does not go to the other.

Mirabel Blinker and Menno Düül are excluded from the community and have to watch how the greed of others rules over beautiful money. Menno seeks and finds a way to secure part of the profit after all. He begins a relationship with Mirabel's best friend Gloria Hasselt, who is still on the winner's list. That's too much for Mirabel. Together with her youth acquaintance, the bus driver and amateur actor at the Bruno Karras home theater, which had been ignored until then, she devises a ruse and sets a trap for the couple. With a bogus company and a false investment offer, she gets her former best friend and her unfaithful ex-boyfriend, from whom she is also pregnant, to transfer 200,000 euros to a bogus company.

The fish manufacturer Klaas Jonkers, for whom Mirabel and Gloria are employed, has also greedily campaigned for Mirabel not to receive a share of the profits, and has also given her notice without notice on maternity leave because he has evidence that Mirabel is behind the deception against Gloria and Menno. Although he has his factory and his employees well under control, he circumvents the regulatory environmental requirements with the help of Mirabel's criminal brothers. With Mirabel's knowledge of this, Bruno pretends to be an inspector of the environmental authority at Jonkers and can be smeared with another 200,000 euros for his silence after Jonkers was warned by Mirabel, as a false secretary of the environmental authority, of the upcoming raid if the inspector does not call it off. Unfortunately, Bruno is recognized by the Blinker brothers, who are always quick and criminally thinking, when they leave the office, so that they now try to steal the money from Mirabel and Bruno.

Reviews

“Very entertaining, well-played television village comedy, the exuberant comedy of which easily outshines small staging weaknesses. Wonderfully pointed dialogues, an original language and the absurd humor make the film extremely enjoyable. "

“Director Lars Becker belongs to the first guard of German TV directors not only because of his successful ' Nachtschicht ' series. Here, after genre works such as 'The Yellow of the Egg' and ' The Best Teacher in the World ', he once again shows that he not only masters highly exciting crime entertainment, but also knows how to convince with comedies. Once again he tells a funny story based on his own script with a lot of bizarre, bitter Frisian characters. Remarkable: the collection of well-known actors, some of whom have already worked with Becker several times. "

“Played slapstick with good taste that is fun. [...] Flotte Frisian farce with an illustrious ensemble "

“Here, close to the mudflats and with a maritime local flavor, Lars Becker, with his talent for new German comedies, has settled his latest trick on behalf of ZDF: the lottery burlesque 'Schade um das Schöne Geld'. […] That is fun. This is 'a shame for the nice money' to be noted throughout, even if the director Becker seems smarter than the screenwriter Becker. The simple deception that bus driver Bruno uses to help his Mirabel achieve justice are too implausible. [...] These almost prophetically topical features almost make up for the all too flat volts of Lars Becker's lovingly made flatland saga. "

“Lars Becker played it safe. The director, more at home in the crime genre ('Night Shift'), used actors for his new film who can be described as three quarters of the rent for a successful comedy. All of them experienced people in the field: Uwe Ochsenknecht, Heike Makatsch, Armin Rohde and Christian Ulmen. What else can go wrong? To anticipate: it won't go wrong. "
