location

The district of Schenkenberg is located about three kilometers northwest of Delitzsch city center. The Lober runs to the east, coming from the south , with the Loberaue nature reserve surrounding it . In the south Schenkenberg borders on Kertitz , in the north on Rödgen and in the west on Storkwitz .

history

On July 13, 1252, the place was first mentioned in a document by Dietrich von Brehna. As founder apply Counts of Landsberg that here the castle of taverns of Landsberg built. From this the later manor emerged as the economic center of the village. With the purchase of farm positions in the 16th century and the inclusion of destroyed farm estates after the Thirty Years War , the land ownership increased to its later extent.

Until 1815, Schenkenberg belonged to the Electoral Saxon office of Delitzsch . As a result of the resolutions of the Congress of Vienna , the place became part of Prussia and was assigned to the Delitzsch district in the Merseburg administrative district of the province of Saxony in 1816, to which it belonged until 1952. In the course of the district reform in the GDR in 1952, Schenkenberg was assigned to the newly cut Delitzsch district in the Leipzig district, which was added to the Delitzsch district in 1994 . In 1950 the northern town of Rödgen was incorporated into Schenkenberg.

On January 1, 1997, Schenkenberg was incorporated into Delitzsch with the previously independent villages of Poßdorf , Rödgen, Spröda and Storkwitz.
